DRAWING FROM NATURE & INSPIRED BY NATURE

Born in 1955 in Havre-Saint-Pierre, Quebec, Marcel Jomphe now resides in Rimouski, Quebec, Canada, where he specializes in drawing that combines representation with imagination. Drawing from his deep intuitive understanding of botanical forms, he endeavors through his art to foster a deeper connection between people and their natural surroundings.

The artistry of his drawing stems from a slow maturation process resulting as much from external technical work and craftsmanship as from an inner journey characterised by calm, energy and humility. He places great emphasis on contemplating the concrete and natural world. His practice unfolds through a technical approach marked by intense concentration and a constant deepening of his inner life. It is a path, a path in its own right.
