Published in French in September 2026 by L’Index Publishing House, in the Nature Writing series.

Inspired by mono no aware, a Japanese spiritual concept that evokes both the sadness one feels in the face of life’s transience and the good fortune of bearing witness to it, Marcel Jomphe had a profound experience during an artist residency in Saint Andrews, New Brunswick.

In Autumn at Kingsbrae Garden, he shares this experience by reflecting on his artistic practice, the garden, his walks through the town, and the aging of the leaves.

Throughout the pages, the author’s drawings and photographs aptly capture the striking beauty of autumn.
